Royal Bliss, ‘Waiting Out the Storm’ – Exclusive Track by Track Album Stream

Royal Bliss have been rocking out for 15 years since forming in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1997, and the band is set to release its eighth album, ‘Waiting Out the Storm’ on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Frontman Neal Middleton was kind enough to offer Loudwire an exclusive track-by-track breakdown of the new disc to go along with full streams of each song on the album.

Of the album itself, Middleton says: “I wrote the words to this record during a crazy time in my life. We had just got out of our deal with Capitol; we had other label people and managers trying to push us in a direction we did not want to go. I had just become a father; I experienced death for the first time. Many people around me were struggling with drugs and alcohol. There were a lot of real things going on in my life. These were the 11 songs out of around 100 that made the record.”

Royal Bliss Life In-Between

Life In-Between is the latest CD from Royal Bliss set to be release January 13th.  Having close ties to Royal Bliss, I was privileged  enough to have listened to the new CD before its release, Life In-Between.  Here’s my take: Solid. It’s the best Royal Bliss CD to date. These guys are really talented and have come a long way since back in 1997 when Bliss played their first show in the basement of DV8 and now they are releasing Life In-Between.  Congrats boys!

I strongly suggest that you get your own copy of Life In-Between by Royal Bliss.  You can get it online at Amazon Here.

Royal Bliss - Life In-Between

Royal Bliss is modern rock with equal parts beauty and tragedy. The band has already been through enough to justify their own VH1 Behind The Music episode complete with addiction, near death experiences, car crashes, and lawsuits. The elements of life lie in the process and the adventure, this album is the result of that journey, a place where tragedy and beauty can exist side by side, where every emotion is valid and every emotion is needed. Such is the essence of Royal Bliss.

Silver Wings by Thrice

This is a song (sonnet) about AIR.
Silver Wings by Thrice

/*

From tender years you took me for granted
(But still I deigned to wander through your lungs)
While You were sleeping soundly in your bed
(Your drapes were silver wings, your shutter’s flung)

I Drew the poison from the summer’s sting
(And eased the fire out of your fevered skin)
I Moved in you and stirred your soul to sing
(And if you’d let me I would move again)

I’ve danced ‘tween sunlit strands of lover’s hair
(Helped formed the final words before your death)
I pitied you and piled your sails with air
(Gave blessing when you rose upon my breath)

And after all of this, I am amazed
That I am cursed far more than I am praised.

Radiohead In Rainbows

in Rainbows by Radiohead has to be one of the best albums of all time.

This from wikipedia:

/*

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Rainbows

In Rainbows is the seventh album by the English rock band Radiohead. It was first released on 10 October 2007 as a digital download, followed by a self-released “discbox” on 3 December 2007. The album was released as a standard CD in most countries around the world during the last week of 2007, most commonly on 31 December 2007, while in North America it saw a release date of 1 January 2008. The first single from In Rainbows, “Jigsaw Falling into Place”, was released in January 2008 in the United Kingdom.

The band had worked on In Rainbows for more than two years, beginning in early 2005. In between recording, the band toured Europe and North America for three months in mid-2006. The announcement of details about the album led to media attention centered around the band’s decision to first release the album online as a digital download for which fans could decide the price they paid.

The release of In Rainbows was the band’s first after the end of their contract with EMI and the end of the longest gap between studio albums in their career. Upon its initial release as a digital download, the album earned widespread critical acclaim. Initially, the commercial success was unclear as the band declined to publicise their Internet sales numbers. However, upon its retail release, In Rainbows entered the UK Album Chart and the United World Chart at number one and also topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart

It’s a Bob Marley Music Day

Are you the kind of person that listens to music based on your mood for that day…or for whatever mood you are in at any given time?  Well I am…I think most people are the same way.

Yesterday I was feeling a little light-headed and melancholy so I started off the day with a little Radiohead that lasted until about 2:30 PM.  Then Jens Lekman took over from there.  I finished up the day with some Razorlight.

This morning, I started off the day with “Just like Heaven” and “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure and the switched to Bob Marley, which turned out to be a great transition and its really hitting the spot.  Music is great that way.

Later on, if I’m feeling up to it…I may go crazy and listen to The Beach Boys: mood-music’s manic end of the spectrum.

Radiohead in-Rainbows

http://www.inrainbows.com/

If you have not got your copy of In Rainbows you’d better get it.

Radiohead had began work on In Rainbows more than two years ago. In Radinbows release marks the end of the longest gap between studio albums in their career.  I can’t stop listening to these songs…some of their best work.

Rainbows features songs showcased on Radiohead’s 2006 tour, including “15 Step”, “Bodysnatchers”, “All I Need” and “Videotape”.  These are a few of my favs in the collection. Lead singer Thom Yorke, talking about the lyrical contenton In Rainbows, has said “It’s about that anonymous fear thing, sitting in traffic, thinking, ‘I’m sure I’m supposed to be doing something else’… it’s similar to OK Computer in a way. It’s much more terrifying. But OK Computer was terrifying too—some of the lyrics were.” (Radiohead reveal ‘terrifying’ new album. NME 2006-04-03)

I suggest you get it.  Whether you are a Radiohead fan or not…you’ll love In Rainbows.
