Sauce. Why I am such a sucker for sauce

You know when something hits you and you realize something for the first time? Some people say, “it hit me like a ton of bricks”, or, “it was like a slap in the face.”

Well I just had a slap in the face by a ton of bricks: I am a sauce guy. A sauceman if you will.

What is a sauceman you ask? I will tell you. A sauceman is a person that is a sucker for good sauce. Someone who loves a good sauce on pretty much anything and mostly everything. When I consider where to eat out, the type and taste of the establishment’s sauce is always the first question and consideration in my mind. If the sauce isn’t there, I am not there either.

I have learned by poor experience that when grading an establishments food it is directly related to the quality of their sauce. I remember one time I was at the Outback Steakhouse…you know the place. I ordered the biggest steak they had on the menu. They brought it out. I asked for some steak sauce. They looked at me weird and then the returned to the kitchen and brought out some sorry excuse for a sauce. This steak was the worst I ever had. Outback Steakhouse isn’t a sauce establishment. So yeah, I’ve learned where the sauces are at and where they are not.

Here is a list of the best sauces.

1. A1 Steak sauce

I could put this sauce on anything. One taste of this stuff and my taste buds all stand up and take attention and scream for more. I have drank A1 straight from the bottle.

2. Nando’s Peri Peri Sauce

I came across this sauce while in South Africa. There is a fastfood joint called Nandos’ (mostly in commonwealth countries) where they make this char-broiled chicken that is marinated in their peri peri sauce. They also sell their sauce in their establishments. After many years and many failed attempts, my favorite sister was able to get me some. Nando’s Peri Peri sauce is spicy and on chicken, there is nothing better.

3. Arby’s Sauce

I know what you are thinking…but I love this stuff. I’m thinking Arby’s.

4. Heinz 57 Steak Sauce

More steak sauce. Really good.

5. Cholula

Hot & Spicy. Splendid sauce.

Last of all…let me say this to those of you that think I missed one.  Ranch is not a sauce.

Levi Johnson Snarr beat his horrific battle with cancer by passing onto the next life at 3:40 this morning. He is now with his older brother/buddy Zach in a better place. As sad as we are, we are truly grateful that Levi is no longer in pain. Although he has left us, his amazing example and spirit will forever remain in each one of us. Levi is a hero to everyone: not only to his family and friends but to all those that have heard his story. Amongst the most unimaginable pain, Levi continued to smile and not once complained. NBA 2007 Trades and Cap Room

So now there are rumors that Kobe Bryant is going to be traded…it’s all over the internet and sports radio talk shows. I say trade him to New York for Stefan Marbury…their salaries are about the same…that’s about all.

Speaking of salaries, I was poking about on ESPN’s site and they’ve got this little niffty thing where you can create your own trades called Trade Machine. You select you teams, up to four, and then the players you want to swap teams and then press the ‘try this trade’ button and it tells you if this trade would work…according to NBA trade rules.

Similarly to the NFL, the NBA’s salary cap is calculated as a percentage of the league’s revenues. The salary cap for the 2007-2008 season will be $55,630,000. The NBA’s salary cap is a so-called “soft cap”, meaning that teams are allowed to exceed the cap number in order to retain the rights to a player who has already been on the team. This provision is known as the “Larry Bird” exception, named after the former Boston Celtics great who was retained by that team until his retirement under the provisions of this rule. (source wikipedia)

Some other interesting info they’ve got on their trade machine thingy is a list of all the players salaries and each team’s cap room. According to ESPN’s site, there are only 2 teams that have some room under the NBA’s $55,630,000 salary cap:

  • Hawks Payroll: $54,104,714 Cap Room: $1,525,286
  • Bobcats Payroll: $52,875,736 Cap Room: $2,754,264
  • The two teams with the highest amount over the cap are:

  • Mavericks Payroll: $94,579,543 Cap Room: $-38,949,543
  • Knicks Payroll: $96,190,114 Cap Room: $-40,560,114
  • It’s kinda funny…I mean the Mavs were done in the first round last year of the playoffs and the Knicks have not been able to put a team together since who knows when…and both of these teams are paying way too much for sub-par results.

My take is this: NBA…(Not Budgeted Accurately)…I love this sorry excuse of a game!

    Google Trends: Science vs. Nature

I was doing some SEO research and thought I’d take a look at something in the Google Labs called “Google Trends”.
    Google Trends
With Google Trends, you can compare the world’s interest in your favorite topics. Enter up to five topics and see how often they’ve been searched on Google over time. Google Trends also shows how frequently your topics have appeared in Google News stories, and in which geographic regions people have searched for them most. (copy and pasted that straight from the Google Trends about page)

So anyway…I gave it a really hard search comparison to do make with science vs. nature. Now, to preface this, in my mind…nature is always going to beat out science any day of the week. But, you’ll see what Google thinks when you click on this link: This Link.

Yep, that’s right…after many thousands of years and after who knows how many trials and errors, science marches on and defeats nature. Congrats science. Rock on.

    No more TinyURL…doiop is here!

If you are like me and not a fan of tinyurl, then you’ll really dig doiop.

    What is doiop?
Some web addresses (URL) are very long and complicated. doiop creates for you a short URL with a keyword you choose, making it easy to remember or give away. This link will not break in emails and never expire.

For example, the url for this post is: http://www.smithmediafusion.com/blog/?p=293
and in doiop I trimmed it down to: http://doiop.com/thispost
