Here’s a little chat about the Utah Wyoming football game.  If you missed it, Utah won 50-0.  The cowboys didn’t even show up to play despite the guaranteed victory by their headcoach.

Abe: hey Dan…who wins in two weeks?  Utah or the kitties?
D-mode: ahhahaha
D-mode: should be a great game
Abe: yes
D-mode: after what the Utes did to WYO….I’m leaning towards the U
Abe: Utah is a different team from the beginning of the year
D-mode: oh yeah
Abe: if they played Air Force or UNLV now they would kill em
D-mode: big time
Abe: I have to lean towards the Utes too.  They are just on fire right now
D-mode: yeah
Abe: I am biased though
D-mode: BYU isn’t as phyiscal as the Utes
Abe: what do you think of bird flip gate?
D-mode: I think the flip was uncalled for
D-mode: I don’t think that the U was running up the score but
D-mode: the onsides kick should not of happened
D-mode: but
D-mode: I understand why Whit did it
Abe: the thing is…they didn’t need to do the onside kick.  Wyo couldn’t get a first down
Abe: they couldn’t even get 5 yards
D-mode: right
D-mode: it was more of a “hey no one likes you WYO…”
D-mode: they seriously have the worst fans ever
Abe: but…I love it!  Kyle has finally grown a pair.  He is finally his own man.  Finally has a killer instinct.  Last I checked, there is no rule that says “No kicking onsides kicks if you are up by more than 30″
Abe: pour it on.  Wyoming deserves to lose by 100 I think.  Shut their dang fans up!
D-mode: I know…I think Kyle needed to show the league that he wasn’t going to just rollover
Abe: PLUS…All BYU fans can talk about is Whit and the U.  There is no doubt that they are scared
D-mode: the thing is….no one likes WYO
D-mode: not even BYU
D-mode: everyone HATES to play there
D-mode: if I were the MWC pres.  I’d fine the WYO coach for sure
Abe: I know!  A couple Y fans here where like “Wyoming didn’t deserve it.  Utah is so classless!”  Well, two things…Wyoming has the fans that invented the F U BYU cheer.  And call me a classless jerk cause I love it!
D-mode: hahahah
D-mode: I know….WYO deserves everyone one in the league to stomp on them
Abe: yeah…I might even suspend the guy.  The funny thing is, if you ever watch the MTN, they run this commercial ALL THE TIME with Cowboy Joe explaining good sportsmanship
D-mode: hahaha
D-mode: yeah

Are you the kind of person that listens to music based on your mood for that day…or for whatever mood you are in at any given time?  Well I am…I think most people are the same way.

Yesterday I was feeling a little light-headed and melancholy so I started off the day with a little Radiohead that lasted until about 2:30 PM.  Then Jens Lekman took over from there.  I finished up the day with some Razorlight.

This morning, I started off the day with “Just like Heaven” and “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure and the switched to Bob Marley, which turned out to be a great transition and its really hitting the spot.  Music is great that way. 

Later on, if I’m feeling up to it…I may go crazy and listen to The Beach Boys: mood-music’s manic end of the spectrum.

So check this out. I often email my comments to Kevin Graham of 1280 the zone ( an AM sport talk radio station here in Utah). I sent one today in regards to the station straying away from actually talking about sports and talking more about other useless banter.

My email is as follows:

Subject: where is the sports? (as per the norm)

OK Kevin…I’ve got a bone to pick.

Why aren’t you guys talking about sport any more? I at one time was a true “P1″ listener. I would tune in to the show every single day. Then, it suddenly became aware to me in my daily drive home that you (the big show) were not talking about sport any more. Topics from show-tunes to ice cream and the ballet( to name just a few ) seemed to become ever more common within each segment.

I decided to turn it off. Well…to tell the truth, I turned the dial up to 1320.

Yesterday, I tuned back to 1280 to see if the format had changed at all since now at 1320 there is more competition…and thus perhaps prompting a change at 1280. Your “big show” was on and I told myself that I wouldn’t change the dial for at least 3 segments…no matter what the topic was for that segment. I must say Kevin, I couldn’t do it….Halloween candy for a full segment? Susan the truth machine? C’mon….lets hear some sports! Until then, I’m headed over to listen to some sports talk on 1320.

Appreciate the input and thoughts. “As per the norm� when there are big sports issues to discuss we do. That’s always been the case with the station. Yesterday we spent a good chunk of time on the Jazz game and yes we had some fun on Halloween. Susan the Truth Machine has been a very popular segment with the P1’s. I realize we can never please everyone but I do appreciate the opinion and thank you for listening.

I replied and told Kevin that more sports on “sports talk radio” is always better than not. I mean why call it sports talk if they are talking about something other that sports more often that not talking about sports?

I have decided to talk a little poll/survey with Kevin’s program “The Big Show” and see how often each segment is off topic (“off topic” meaning mostly about something non-sports related). Now, I can’t say that I’ll be listening ALL the time…since I have a life. But I’ll report my findings from each day I do listen to “The Big Show” on 1280 AM to let you know.

If you have not got your copy of In Rainbows you’d better get it.  

Radiohead had began work on In Rainbows more than two years ago. In Radinbows release marks the end of the longest gap between studio albums in their career.  I can’t stop listening to these songs…some of their best work.

Rainbows features songs showcased on Radiohead’s 2006 tour, including “15 Step”, “Bodysnatchers”, “All I Need” and “Videotape”.  These are a few of my favs in the collection. Lead singer Thom Yorke, talking about the lyrical contenton In Rainbows, has said “It’s about that anonymous fear thing, sitting in traffic, thinking, ‘I’m sure I’m supposed to be doing something else’… it’s similar to OK Computer in a way. It’s much more terrifying. But OK Computer was terrifying too—some of the lyrics were.” (Radiohead reveal ‘terrifying’ new album. NME 2006-04-03)

I suggest you get it.  Whether you are a Radiohead fan or not…you’ll love In Rainbows.
